Welcome to Mar Vista Elementary School! We are so excited for all of the great programs that Mar Vista School Enrichment Group (MVSEG) has planned for the year and would like to take this opportunity to introduce MVSEG.

The MVSEG is a parent-led, non-profit organization. We raise funds needed for the enrichment programs that provide educational and meaningful experiences for our children. We became involved because our children attend this gem of a school. Please consider getting involved with the MVSEG and accept this invitation to attend future meetings. Future meetings will be on:

Our meetings begin at 6:45 PM. All meetings will be held via Zoom during Distance Learning. Link is listed in the Mar Vista Weekly News email.

DONOR SOLICITATIONS

local businesses, travel & hotel getaways, camps, and classes

Many businesses are seeking creative marketing outlets during this challenging year. Let them know over 500 families will hear their names and know of their donation to our school. It’s a win win! In addition, many are looking for opportunities to support their community and get positive publicity in the process. It’s great for their business – they get exposure to over 500 people in our online auction catalog and their donations may be tax-deductible!

TIP: Next time you get a haircut, enroll your child to music/dance/sports classes, go shopping, run errands, or eat/take out at your favorite restaurant, strike up a conversation about donating to the auction. It is surprisingly easy to do and a great way to get to know the owner or manager of your favorite establishment. Also consider purchasing a gift card from one your favorite places to additionally support them and donate the certificate to the auction especially in this very difficult time for local businesses we love to support. We need your help to generate as many donations as possible! Donate a talent: cooking, baked goods, soup of the week, dessert of the month club… these homemade items are a favorite and generate a frenzy of bidding!

Remember to take the auction solicitation letter and donor form with you. If it is easier, email your favorite places and ask for their support. Keep a few copies in your car or bag so they are handy. Please contact one of the solicitation co-chairs if you need a copy of the letter and donation form.

Attach the cover letter to the solicitation form. Businesses need the MVSEG tax ID number.
Fill in your name and phone # on the donor form in advance.
Explain how much our school depends on private funds. Let the business know exactly what impact of the state budget cuts have been on our local public school.
Offer to come back and pick up the certificate as a way to ensure a timely response. Or, circle or highlight the address on the form to which they can send their donations and responses.
Call/email the establishment, especially if you know the management and arrange a safe time to pick up the donation.
