Welcome to the 2023 – 2024 school year! As the parent run booster club, Mar Vista School Enrichment Group (MVSEG) is a non-profit organization that raises funds for programs that will enrich and diversify the educational experience for all students in the school.

MVSEG bridges the gap between the basic, minimum funding provided by LAUSD and the essential resources, services, and equipment necessary for the highly successful learning environment at Mar Vista Elementary. From P.E. to science lab to art to classroom aides and more, the programs we support & raise money for, help make our children’s education at MVE truly outstanding. With the active support of our incredible community of families, the teachers and our principal, Katherine Choe, we volunteer our knowledge, time and resources in a variety of ways.

Please consider getting involved with the MVSEG and accept this invitation to attend future meetings. Meetings are generally held on the third Thursday of the month, on the following dates:

March 14 (election nominations due)
April 18 (elections)
May 16

Our meetings will begin at 6:45 PM or 7:00 PM in the school cafeteria.

local businesses, travel & hotel getaways, camps, and classes

Many businesses are seeking creative marketing outlets during this challenging year. Let them know over 500 families will hear their names and know of their donation to our school. It’s a win win! In addition, many are looking for opportunities to support their community and get positive publicity in the process. It’s great for their business – they get exposure to over 500 people in our online auction catalog and their donations may be tax-deductible!

TIP: Next time you get a haircut, enroll your child to music/dance/sports classes, go shopping, run errands, or eat/take out at your favorite restaurant, strike up a conversation about donating to the auction. It is surprisingly easy to do and a great way to get to know the owner or manager of your favorite establishment. Also consider purchasing a gift card from one your favorite places to additionally support them and donate the certificate to the auction especially in this very difficult time for local businesses we love to support. We need your help to generate as many donations as possible! Donate a talent: cooking, baked goods, soup of the week, dessert of the month club… these homemade items are a favorite and generate a frenzy of bidding!

Remember to take the auction solicitation letter and donor form with you. If it is easier, email your favorite places and ask for their support. Keep a few copies in your car or bag so they are handy. Please contact one of the solicitation co-chairs if you need a copy of the letter and donation form.

Attach the cover letter to the solicitation form. Businesses need the MVSEG tax ID number.
Fill in your name and phone # on the donor form in advance.
Explain how much our school depends on private funds. Let the business know exactly what impact of the state budget cuts have been on our local public school.
Offer to come back and pick up the certificate as a way to ensure a timely response. Or, circle or highlight the address on the form to which they can send their donations and responses.
Call/email the establishment, especially if you know the management and arrange a safe time to pick up the donation.
