Mar Vista Elementary’s art program fosters creativity, confidence, and self-expression by giving every student the chance to explore a wide range of artistic techniques and materials. Through guided lessons and imaginative projects, students learn to observe, experiment, and communicate their ideas visually while developing fine motor skills and creative problem-solving. The season culminates each year with a school-wide “Art Museum” exhibition, where students engage in the critical and curatorial process of mounting their work and even become the visiting public within their own halls. The program celebrates individuality and encourages students to take risks, try new mediums, and appreciate diverse styles of art from around the world. Whether painting, drawing, sculpting, or collaborating on larger works, Mar Vista students discover that art is a joyful, meaningful way to express themselves and see the world in new and inspiring ways.
